Seeing the chandelier drop unexpectedly was definitely AMAZING! It landed about 10 feet above the audience.īased on the classic novel Fantôme de L’Opéra by Gaston Leroux, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tells the story of a masked figure who lurks beneath the catacombs of the Paris Opera House, exercising a reign of terror over all who inhabit it. The casting is incredible, the voices, the acting, all are simply superb. The Phantoms passion for his opera is unmatched. I do hope that I will have the opportunity to see Phantom on stage again when the girls are older. I also got a little weirded out by the monkey under the Phantoms table. I wanted the angel of music to teach me how to sing. I laughed, I cried, and I sat on the edge of my seat. All I kept thinking was I never want to see a boring opera! Clearly I didn’t have the appreciation of a classical musical such as Phantom. At the time it both scared me a little and turned me off too. I remember walking down Broadway in New York City as a girl with my Mama and seeing the advertisements for Phantom of the Opera. With newly reinvented staging and stunning scenic design, this new version of PHANTOM, one of the most successful musicals of all-time, will be performed by a cast and orchestra of 52, making this one of the largest productions on tour in North America. The show was sold out and with good reason. I had the honor of attending the opening night of the Phantom of the Opera. The Phantom wants to cast his spell on your mind, but can only do so for a limited time during its engagement running from November 19 – November 30, 2014.
We are truly fortunate to have Phantom Of The Opera begin its North American tour for the 2014-2015 Broadway in Fort Lauderdale subscription season at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts.
